Building Contractors Insurance Program

The Norman-Spencer CIS Building Contractors Insurance Program was developed as a portfolio approach, offering general liability and umbrella insurance products to general contracting (GC) firms involved in design-build project delivery methods. The GC project delivery system is evolving from the traditional design/bid/build to simply design-build. Design-build allows project owners to contract with a single course to provide both the design and construction of a project.

Today a design-build team may take one of several forms. A truly integrated firm maintains both design and construction capability in-house. As an alternative, needed expertise may be acquired through a subcontract, joint venture or other arrangement that best fits the business situation. Most design-build operations are contractor-led, with the design subcontracted.

Submission Requirements

  • ACORD Applications
  • Supplemental Application signed by Insured and Agent
  • Loss Runs – 3–5 years currently valued and details of losses over $10,000
  • 2 year job list
  • Expiring declarations page and rating worksheet
